Oil on Canvas. 2016
This began with no plan. An experiment in Monochromatic. Technically I used two tones of black paint, so perhaps that doesnt truly count. This was a dive into the darkness, I do recall a poetic thought, a vision before the complexity took over. You may notice a bottle floating in a sea in the early images. The analogy was that long ago when all glass bottles were hand-made, it was possible to spot a letter in a bottle, floating in the ocean or laying on shore. Sadly, due to the massive rate of pollution, it would be almost impossible to spot a bottle with a letter today. What was the legend of the bottle-letters? In general, what were letters before technology revolutionized communication? Think about it, someone leaves on a far journey and unless a horseman brings letters back home from the traveler, you will never hear from them again. Dont forget, if you moved from where you lived, they would never know where to send that letter to. So, The joke was that today we have the ability communicate with ease, yet the majority of what we say is irrelevant, unintelligent, and perhaps bothersome: reflecting the amount of bottles in the ocean. No longer can you spot a special letter in a bottle, perhaps just as rare: a genuine conversation.
